School Closure

All schools in England have been closed for the majority of children since Monday 23rd April, but we are making childcare available for the children of critical workers and vulnerable pupils.

If your work is critical to the COVID-19 response, you will be have access to a school place.  If you think this applies to you, please bear in mind the following:

  • For Key Workers, we are offering you childcare so that you can do your job, but if your child can stay at home safely, then that is where they should be.
  • The social care system (including schools) is under incredible pressure at the moment, so if you or anyone in your family has the symptoms of COVID-19, you should not bring your children to school but instead follow the guidance on self-isolation.
  • The priority for these children will be keeping them safe and happy, although we will try to support them in their learning.

Key workers have been identified as people working in the following areas:

  • Health and social care
  • Education and childcare
  • Key public services
  • Local and national government
  • Food and other necessary goods
  • Public safety and national security
  • Transport
  • Utilities, communication and financial services

For more information, please see the guidance, which can be found here:

If you think you are a Key Worker, please contact the school as soon as possible

We have contacted the parents of children who have EHCPs or who are vulnerable.

If you receive free school meals for your children, you can continue to receive these.  Please contact the school office to discuss arrangements.

Our intention is to keep St. Martin’s open as long as we are able.  However, it may become necessary at some point for us to join forces with other schools in the local area to offer a joint service.  We will contact you if this becomes necessary.
