Volunteering at St. Martin's
We believe that volunteers and can benefit our pupils enormously as they can bring a different set of skills as well as enthusiasm, practical help and increased engagement to the classroom. We also know that volunteers enjoy being part of our school community while developing professional skills that may be useful in the future. Therefore, we are committed to providing volunteer and work experience opportunities wherever possible and practical, as long as our pupils' teaching and learning are not compromised. There are many different opportunities for volunteering at St. Martin's, some of which require a regular commitment, while others are one-off events.
- listening to children reading and supporting in the classroom
- helping in the school library
- helping with trips and special events
- participating in school-improvement projects such as painting and decorating or gardening
If you would like to volunteer at St. Martin's, the first step is to contact the school office. You will be asked to complete a simple application form and come in to school to meet Mrs Tilling to discuss your interests and the opportunities which are available. Depending on the type of volunteer work you are undertaking and the amount of unsupervised contact you have with the children, we may need to collect references for you and carry out a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
